OUR HISTORY
The origin of James Calvetti Meats dates back to March of 1936, when a young Jimmy Calvetti began his career in the Union Stockyards of Chicago. After a tour in WWII and a distinguished career spanning thirty-five years as a top meat salesman, he formed James Calvetti Meats in 1974. In 1982, he built a state-of-the-art processing plant on the same grounds where his career began in Chicago’s Union Stockyards. The company has continued to expand and grow into one of the city’s top purveyors of premium portion-cut meats.
Since the 1980’s, James Calvetti Meats has been exporting fine meats around the world as well as producing for high-volume domestic customers. Today, the company has expended its focus to include boutique markets, such as fine restaurants and specialty food grocers. The processing facility was expanded and modernized in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s to accommodate rapid growth in U.S. and international markets.
Jamie Calvetti, son of the founder and a 30-year veteran of the business, is now President of James Calvetti Meats. Today, after almost 40 years of providing the finest products and services to their customers, James Calvetti Meats continues to be regarded as one of the finest purveyors of premium portion-cut meats.
